I believe pbear was correct in that the thing was mounted, No fstab involved, as I plugged it in to a usb port with one of those adapters that everyone has just to take a look at a df call, and it must've been auto-mounted at that point and I feel kind of dumb for not realizing that. Anyway, problem fixed, thanks all.
