If it cannot see it, it can never boot from it. I have pci-e card that holds two ssds. It will not boot from them but they work fine for data after the OS loads and they are seen then.Question, in scenarios where the BIOS physically cannot see the drive the OS is installed to (such as if it's on a m.2 to PCIE adapter), does the EFI partition (or grub for MBR) contain the driver needed to recognize the OS drive, or would /boot still need to be moved to a drive the BOIS can see?
