Hey I'm in that thread! DonaldN is me talking about this issue as well.I have been running into a similar issue on the MiNT forum which also used phpBB - they recently upgraded to 3.3.12.
If anyone is interested the bug can be followed here https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2654323 There is clearly some conflict as to how New Posts should have worked as opposed to how it did work and how it works now.
I think we are just spinning our wheels here on this issue until they fix it, I rebuilt the search engine and went back to the default phpBB search engine to the same results ... over 500+ newposts for me, meaning all that work with swapping the backend was a waste of time as the issue is with the software itself.
