A: Cloud-init is a framework written in Python configuring various aspects of a newly instantiated EC2 instance. Refer to its documentation for more details. Cloud-init is installed by default on the Debian AMIs, as well as AMIs published by several other Linux distributions including Ubuntu and Amazon Linux.
