VSCode makes it entirely too easy. I haven't figured out how to configure it to work as a full ide but what I have gotten it to do has made my life much easier. The plugin system has nearly anything you could want. I've been using it for Python, C, my Makefiles, and a few shell scripts.
Another alternative that is quite featured is Kate. Can do just fine with the appropriate LSP packages. That + the Konsole built into the window and it's fairly easy to use. (To keep my menus clean when I'm not in a Plasma environment I just copy the konsole.desktop file to /usr/local/share/applications and modify it for NoDisplay=true)
Neither is an IDE of course, but they are quite full featured for text / code editing. I've tried a few full IDE's. Just so many options that I get lost looking through what I can do instead of just writing what I want to write.
