You can get already backported Debian kernels in backports.org, and safely install testing or Sid versions of firmware-amd-graphics.
Not upstreams's xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu, though.
IDK if that requires a newer Mesa, though. We have a somewhat newer backport of that on the MX Linux 23 Advanced Hardware Support Edition...you could run a Live Session of that ISO if plain Debian has trouble, just to test.
GNOME is right out, too. A new version breaks too many other packages in Stable.
