OK, Alder Lake (2021-2022) is well supported by Debian 12, so you're fine there. But Realtek wi-fi is always going to be a pain, IMO.

Marked as SOLVED here on Debian 12, but I can't clearly really see why. https://www.linux.org/threads/network-c ... und.53519/ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It might be supported with a newer kernel and firmware. You could download MX Linux's AHS edition, https://mxlinux.org/download-links/ which has those on a Bookworm base, create a live USB with that, boot from that USB, and see if there's working w-fi in the session. Then you could use MX's QSI tool, which is a front end to inxi, which has information about the driver in use. If not, we need to see if we can get it added for AHS.

The ISO is about 2.3 GB. If your phone tethering is eating into your monthly allotment of mobile hotspot data, as they do, do you have access to an Ethernet port on a router?
