General Debian • Re: What type of computer do you use?

Desktop
i5-12400 2.5/4.4GHz, 32GB RAM , 1 x 1TB NVME, 1 x 2TB NVME, 1 x 1TB SSD, 2 x 1TB HDD, 1 x 4TB HDD, 1 x 8TB HDD, 1 x CD/DVD, Gigabyte Ultra Durable mobo, GT710 graphics driving 2 x Samsung SyncMaster SA450 24" monitors. Debian 12 KDE.
Just does the job, whatever I throw at it. Image may be NSFW.

:D

Desktops (other)
AMD FX-8350 4.0/4.2GHz, 16GB RAM, 1 x 1TB SSD, 3 x 1TB HDD, Gigabyte B760 DS3H mobo, 1 x CD/DVD, GT710 graphics driving 24" Samsung monitor. Debian 12 KDE.
Powerhouse, even if it takes 3 coal fired power stations to supply the electricity it uses. Image may be NSFW.

2 x Ryzen 5 1600AF, 16GB RAM, 1 x 500GB SSD, 2 x 1TB HDD 1 x CD/DVD. GT710 graphics.
Awesome performers, rivalling the i5-12400....when they work. Don't like Linux so running dual boot Debian 12 KDE and Win10. Image may be NSFW.

:(

TV/Sound & Vision Server
Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF i5-3470 3.2/3.6GHz. 1 x 500GB HDD. Debian 12 MATE
Underwhelming performer, but does the job, even 4K video

Workshop Computer
ACER Veriton i7-3770 3.4/3.9GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD. Debian 11 KDE / Win7 dual boot.
Reality does not reflect theoretical performance. Very ordinary, but a single purpose PC running proprietary Windows software. Does the job and the hardware is tough enough to take dust and dirt in the shop.

Media Transfer Desktop
AMD Athlon II X4 630, 8GB RAM, Gigabyte GA-MA78LM mobo, 1 x 240GB SSD, 1 x 1TB HDD 1 x CD/DVD. 1 x 3.5"/1.4MB FDD, 1 x 5.25"/1.2MB FDD (Yes, old school floppy drives). SoundBlaster sound card. Debian 12 MATE. Kenwood component dual cassette deck.
Special purpose machine to transfer programs from hundreds of floppy discs and music from cassettes and CDs. Long term project.

File Server
AMD FX6300, Gigabyte 970A-D3P mobo, 16GB RAM, 1 x 1TB SSD, 1 x 1TB HDD, 4 x 3TB HDD, 1 x 4TB HDD, 2 x 8TB HDD, 1 x CD/DVD. Debian 11.
Also a bit long in the tooth and a bit power hungry, but ultra reliable and where can you get a motherboard these days that supports so many SATA drives?

Network Server(s)
2 x ACER Veriton L670 USFF Core II Duo E7500, 4/8GB RAM, 1 x 240GB SSD. Debian 12.
Set and forget. Probably should replace with Raspberry Pi(s), but their price keeps going up Image may be NSFW.

Another 5 PCs as backups and/or spares, all using AMD FX CPUs and Gigabyte Ultra Durable motherboards. Cant kill 'em with a stick. Image may be NSFW.

Notebooks
Lenovo X1 Carbon (4th Generation) i5-6300U @ 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, 240GB M2 NVME, 512 GB SD Card. Debian 12 KDE.
Love this thing! Clear screen and good sound and the battery lasts forever Image may be NSFW.

Lenovo IdeaPad 110-15AST. AMD 7th Gen A9, 8GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Debian 12 KDE
Remarkably good for a relatively low spec machine.

HP15, AMD-A6 9225. 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD. Debian 12 MATE
Despite RAM and HDD to SSD upgrades this machine remains barely adequate for my needs. Looks nice, though. Currently doing duty attached to a not very smart TV and is working well. Image may be NSFW.

Tablet
Watch this space! Bought a 9" Lenovo tablet and I'm going to put Debian KDE on it. Should be interesting. Image may be NSFW.
