Often a package isn't in the current release because it requires obsolete libraries that aren't in stable any longer, such as Qt 3 or Qt 4.
If this isn't the case, you can always directly download debs from snapshot.debian.org, even ancient ones. Though lately, doing that in Firefox gives me a hash name for the downloaded file, and I have to rename them.![:x]( "Mad")
