Contrib is not part of official debian. See for example the description at https://www.debian.org/distrib/packages.en.html

d-i asks the user whether they want to enable non-free software and IIRC the installer defaults to no - defaults to yes for non-free firmware so it looks like someone might have clicked "next" a little too quickly Image may be NSFW.
