FWIW, thunar and nemo can browse and mount samba shares.
I hope freeze time is not imminent because my fresh install of "Debian GNU/Linux trixie-DI-alpha1 _Trixie_ - Official Alpha amd64 NETINST with firmware 20241230-11:26" is a train wreck. Maybe I should have installed from a bigger ISO, but I never found that to make a difference before.
