Thanks for your reply. But "debugging" my shell script is a bit off topic IMHO. I write bash scripts for at least 20 years... [..] I still am. Se above. It runs, it does what it should. I don't need AI to give me advice.

Maybe you could put this thread back to System and Network configuration, so I get help for configuring cron to log output from scripts under cron.hourly/.daily/.weekly? This is still a question about system configuration IMHO.
