You are right, I have a samsung ssd T7 2TB and it gives a consistent speed of 30MB/s! I had also bought an HP pendrive 818w and it had a speed of 70MB/s on the wrapper for usb 3.0 I expected it to have a speed of 15 MB/s but it gave only about 4-5 MB/s, this means that usb's are very bad quality these days. Not unless you can get the manufacturers to fix their garbage products they sell I see no way to have better results. It has been like this literally forever with constant streams of junk introduced. Settings have nothing to do with it it is the technology used that dictates the performance. As I said use a dongle connected to a SSD on a USB3 port, I will guarantee you that you will see close to the advertised speed. I use them all the time and get close to the 100 or so MiB/s I should get with USB3. I just did test here. I mounted a spare USB3 SSD on dongle drive then a samba share I have on GB ethernet, the transfer speed of the 2.4GiB file was a rock solid 99MiB/s. That was over a network connection from a share on the end.
So there is nothing I can do? No setting change or anything? If there is something that I can do, please let me know.
Thanks,
GK
