Actually I was going to post , but Christmas intervened . Turned out that did not solve it either. I tried cutting it down to just localhost , NMBD failed to start, it "hung" awaiting a non-local interface, and just the one interface (and not 127.0.0.0/8) and it still sent back 2 replies.
