Of itself, it wouldn't bother me that someone two years ago had a problem getting an old version of Ubuntu to run on a then-relatively-new NVMe drive. All things considered, I'd call that a self-inflicted wound. I'm somewhat concerned, though, by the customer support response; in effect, sorry we don't support Linux. If you're keen to buy the drive, I'd email and inquire whether that's still their policy.... I've heard about Lexar drives causing issues in linux systems
Have to say, don't understand the logic. A first-rate consumer drive (e.g., Samsung) looks to be maybe $30 more on Amazon US. Meanwhile, a review of the Lexar describes it as "designed for entry-level, light workloads."
I'd find a way to get the good drive.
