Hello,
Anybody knows if this issue will be solved or if is it considered an official bug? If so, where can I see it?
Welcome back! :-)

From the Debian Bug Tracking System point of view, the bug is still opened:From the point of view of Mate Project (https://mate-desktop.org/), there hasn't been a newer version since 2021-08-10 (current version is 1.26); Debian versions are:

Code:

$ rmadison mate-appletsmate-applets | 1.20.3-2      | oldoldstable   | source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, s390xmate-applets | 1.24.1-1      | oldstable      | source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390xmate-applets | 1.26.1-1      | stable         | source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390xmate-applets | 1.26.1-2      | testing        | source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, ppc64el, s390xmate-applets | 1.26.1-2      | unstable       | source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, ppc64el, riscv64, s390xmate-applets | 1.26.1-2      | unstable-debug | source
I wasn't able to replicate your issue. It could be interesting to get a gdb record or a strace log of the applet starting and running in your installation.
Hallo! How can I do a strace log for mate-applets?

I've read some documentations about the strace command, but evidently I don't write the right syntax... thanks in advance (as usual!!)
