Installed Debian 12 on a machine that previously had Windows.
Symptoms:
Sporadic keyboard input delay - perhaps up to almost a second (rarely), usually 100-200 ms.
Was not present on windows. Is not present in GRUB.
Is present with no X, with only the console. Irrespective of window manager, then, of course, but I tried multiple just in case.
Seems to have some relation to what you type (if you type a particular sentence multiple times, it will seem to lag in the same spot every time). No clear pattern otherwise, not triggered by one letter, not triggered by a short letter combination. Can't really tell.
What I tried:
Multiple window managers, no window manager.
Changing the gpu with Envycontrol. It was in 'hybrid' mode, integrated made no difference, nvidia does not work (no surprise, it has no other (nvidia) GPU, no idea why it's usually in 'hybrid' mode)
Kernels 6.1.0-20, 6.1.0-18
sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration (someone suggested playing around with it, made no difference)
What I plan on trying:
Installing older debian version
Trying an external keyboard
Technical specs:
Hard:
Manufacturer: Acer
Product Name: Aspire A515-51G
Version: V1.06
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 (rev 02)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz
Soft:
Linux system_name 6.1.0-20-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.85-1 (2024-04-11) x86_64 GNU/Linux
