Doesn't surprise me at all considering a massive runtime must be loaded for flatpak applications. Do a search and you'll find pages of similar complaints - https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?q= ... ge=english

1. Rename ~/.local/share/flatpak/ to /flatpak-OLD
2. Reboot your PC
3. Reopen that folder to verify a new flatpak folder was created
4. Run flatpak repair in the terminal
5. Open your downloaded flatpak apps to verify they're opening just as quickly as your system apps
