Solution:

Code:

rm /etc/network/interfaces
reboot
I am quite new to Linux, so I still am not sure why this worked, but it did.

My WIFI was working fine today, until seemingly out of nowhere it did not work any longer. The last thing I remembered doing that perhaps could have changed something was running aptitude update and aptitude full-upgrade, which installed a new verison of the Linux kernel.
Here is what that upgrade installed:

Code:

After this, my WIFI stopped being able to connect. It could still scan, but not connect to anything. I rebooted my computer after which it was no longer able to scan either. I am new to Linux, so I really have no idea how I could fix this.
