I'm not an expert in this subject, but I still use expert mode to get the result I want. Your problem might be due to end of free space. I have used expert install so many years, so I don't remember the disk utility in other installation modes. In expert mode you can delete the old contents from the target drive, you can make needed partitions, and even expert mode will warn you if you make some stupid error. After the first error code (look at the title) a second one appears saying the following: you need to load the kernel first.
This is a fresh install on a newly bought laptop with windows 11 (crapware) installed on the existing nvme ssd. Therefore I thought by booting to a debian iso (on a usb stick file format fat32, iso image called: "debian-12.6.0-amd64-netinst") and installing debian I can just overwrite it. I've already checked the sha256sum, its correct so no corruption.
Please be as detailed as possible with your guidance since I'm a linux/debian beginner![]()
Thanks!
