Uh no, no way.

check if the timeout is VPN related.

OpenVPN used to do fine (under Bullseye) - so VPN basically had no problem. But OpenVPN got an upgrade in Bookworm with requirements not supported by the server - so I was told to switch to WireGuard. - I would rather expect to find the problem somewhere between OpenVPN and WireGuard.

seems that the rdp client library timed out while connecting to the (...) rdp server.

OK - is there any way to find out more details about this time-out?
